Okumaning-Camp (E/R), Jan. 13, GNA - The Resident's Association of the University of Ghana Agricultural Research Station at Okumaning-Camp near Kade in the Kwaebibirem District last week held its first ever new year fund games.
The fun games which were participated by the youth and adults included football, 100 metres race, lime and spoon race, draughts, filling of bottles with water race and musical chairs competition (dancing around chairs).
Prof. Kwame Afreh-Nuamah, Head of the Research Station was chairman of the games while the Guest of Honour was Barima Agyare Tenadu II, Kadehene.
Other dignitaries who graced the occasion were Dr Godfred Kweku Notsonyame, Senior Research Officer of the Station, Dr George Kofi Oduro Nkansah and Mr Samuel Adjei-Nsiah all research officers of the Agricultural Research Station.
The Guest of Honour, Barima Agyare Tenadu said it is important for residents of a common locality to unite and forge together to ensure the development their work and that of the community.
Barima Agyare Tenadu therefore advised the people to continue with a common spirit of togetherness and to do away with acts of envy, backbiting, gossiping, enmity, rancour and bitterness to help maintain the name and respect accorded the station in its research and production of citrus planting materials in the area and the country.
He urged them to make the games become an annual affair so as to bring about harmonious relationship between them and the people in the community.
Prof. Afreh-Nuamah also emphasised on unity and advised the participants to ensure that they contribute their quota in making the Research Station maintain its status and improve on its duties as well as assisting the community in their development activities.
