Athletic Bilbao and Spanish-born Ghanaian winger Nico Williams has shared his thoughts on adjusting to life as a global football star.

Speaking to El Mundo, the talented winger admitted that it took time for him to get used to his growing fame.

"Before the Euros, people in Spain knew me, but now it’s a global thing," Williams said.

He recounted being surprised by fans in Italy recognizing him during a Europa League match against Roma, where they eagerly awaited photos and autographs.

Williams reflected on how different life feels now. While in Bilbao, he appreciates the respect and admiration, the situation outside the city has become more overwhelming.

He explained how simple activities, like visiting Madrid with friends, have changed drastically.

"The last few times I’ve avoided places like Gran Vía because everyone wants photos, and it’s impossible to walk."

Despite the challenges, Williams expressed his gratitude for the love he receives, noting, "It’s very nice, and I am enjoying the experience."
