Finidi George has reportedly resigned as the head coach of Nigeria's Super Eagles following the Nigeria Football Federation's (NFF) decision to employ a foreign technical advisor.

The NFF announced plans to bring in an international expert after the national team's disappointing performance in the recent 2026 World Cup qualifier matches.

Reports from within the Nigerian football community suggest that Finidi George viewed the NFF's plan to hire a foreign technical advisor as an attempt to replace him.

His tenure as the national team coach was short, overseeing only two official matches without a win.

The former Nigerian international's coaching record includes a home draw against South Africa and an away loss to the Benin Republic.

At a recent crisis management meeting, the NFF confirmed its decision to appoint an expatriate Technical Advisor for the Super Eagles in the coming weeks.

This move aims to improve the team's performance in the AFCON qualifiers and the remaining FIFA World Cup qualifying matches.
