Nigeria U-23 defender declares total war against Ghana

Sparta Rotterdam defender Dele Adeleye has declared total war as well as victory for his Nigeria U-23 Olympic team against visiting Black Meteours of Ghana when the two West Africa brothers engage in an Olympic qualifying match at the Abuja National Stadium on Sunday, June 3.

"Some of us were not around when Ghana eliminated us from the All Africa Games," Adeleye said to Jerrysonfm

"Our colleagues did their best in the match, but luck was not on their side. Now that the team has been blessed with the full compliment of overseas-based professional like our captain Promise Isaac, Obinna Nsofor, Chinedu Ogbuke, Apam Onyekachi and the rest, I am so sure that Ghana will fall on Sunday", Adeleye told Jerrysonfm on Monday.

The lanky defender disclosed that he had matured as a defender since helping the Flying Eagles to win the silver medal of the World Youth Championship held in Holland in 2005.

"I think the league in Holland has really sharpened my quality as a player, Iam now a better player than before. The problem of getting my International Transfer Certificate (ITC) on time from the NFA prevented me from playing four matches at the start of mid-season that I joined Rotterdam. But I thank God Almighty that since then I have played virtually all the league matches for Rotterdam and I even scored a goal.

"I have played every week including Inter Toto and play-off. It is not easy playing in the first team of the club and I thank God for this. I have resolved to put in my best to help the U-23 team win the Olympic ticket any time I am invited by the chief coach, Samson Siasia," the former Sunshine and 3SC defender told Jerrysonfm
