There was no place for Andre Ayew as Asamoah Gyan named his favourite Black Stars team.
The two have spent over a decade in the Black Stars and been part of all tournaments since the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations which was held here in Ghana.
The two players have always maintained their respect and admiration for one another despite constant reports of bad blood between them.
But in Gyan’s star-studded team, Ayew who deputized as skipper until he was handed the substantive position last year was conspicuously missing.
Andre Ayew’s father who is regarded as the greatest player in the country’s history got a spot alongside Gyan as the two strikers.
The squad which is largely dominated by Black Stars players from 2005 to 2014 has Richard Kingson unsurprisingly in post.
Left back Hans Adu Sarpei and ‘Mr Consistent’ John Paintsil occupy either side of lateral defensive position while Sammy Kuffour and the ‘rock’ John Mensah partnered at centre back.
Central midfield has Essien and Stephen Appiah with Sulley and Laryea Kingston on the wings.
Ghana’s all-time leading goalscorer is also the chart lead for African goals in the World Cup.
Gyan named his side in an interview with Pulse.com.gh.
