No Deal For Hamza Mohammed

The Ghanaian midfielder training with Scottish club St Johnstone has been advised that the club will not be pursuing their interest in him.

The 26-year-old, identified as Hamza Mohammed, arrived in Perth on Monday after spells training with Leeds United and Dundee United.

The 40-times capped midfielder was recently released from a short term contract at New Zealand Knights in the Australian A league. He had previously played for Asante Kotoko, Real Tamale United and King Faisal Babes in his homeland.

Despite showing up well in training and in a bounce game against Rangers at Murray Park, the player was clearly some way short of match fitness and with the Saints recent downturn in form, manager Owen Coyle said he was looking for a player who could add to the first team right away.

Fans will maybe be left wondering why the club are turning down a player who featured for Ghana in their 2002 and 2006 African Nations Cup campaigns.
