No Portsmouth Deal For Muntari

Portsmouth Manager, Harry Redknapp, has told a local paper that the highly rated central midfielder Sulley Muntari will not be signing for Pompey.

Serie A side Udinese have reportedly put a ?10million tag on the Ghanaian international. However, Portsmouth are unlikely to shell out that amount.

'I would not have thought Muntari will be coming here. I'd be surprised - what they are asking for is too much.

'We'll move on. If people are more than they're worth, we won't buy them.'

Pompey have been linked with Muntari since the opening of the transfer window, but the asking price is bound to put off Redknapp.

Pompey first wanted to sign Muntari in the summer and believed they could land him for around ?3million, yet his performances in the World Cup Finals bumped his price up to ?7million.

Redknapp was unwilling to pay that, so he may be stunned to hear that despite the midfielder scoring just once in Serie A this term, Udinese have further hikes up their asking price

Pompey had valued the the 22-year-old Muntari at ?3million.
