Players of Ghana U-20 female team, the Black Princesses will not receive any bonus after failing to qualify out of the group stages of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Canada.
The Black Princesses on Tuesday night faced elimination despite securing a 2-1 victory over Finland in their last group game.
The Princesses who had won and lost their two previous games against host nation Canada and North Korea respectively could not book a place in the knockouts stages after falling short on goal difference to Korea and Canada despite securing an impressive six points to finish third in the group.
Reports gathered by Ghanasportsonline.com indicate that, there will be no bonuses for the girls in the reason that they failed to qualify out of the group.
“They are saying no money for us because we did not qualify. They said it's qualification bonus and not winning bonus so no money for us,” a close source of the team exclusively revealed to Ghanasportsonline.com
“Even our qualification to the world cup they haven't paid, why all this? We went for a meeting with the Minister and he said he doesn't have any money for us because we did not qualify”.
“Even our qualifiers to the world cup they said they will pay it on Monday but those who did not play, they said they don't have money for them”.
“Meanwhile when we were playing the qualifiers to the world cup, they told us that even if some of the team did not come and we qualified they were going to pay all our money to us. We are very sad; we have wasted our time in this tournament without getting anything”.
The Black Princesses for the first time in history managed to scoop six points in the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup competition. The team is however expected to touch down on Friday.
