Black Stars management committee chairman, George Afriyie, insists his outfit never received any official document on the slashing of Black Stars winning bonuses from the Sports Ministry.

There was widespread news in the local media recently that the Black Stars winning bonuses has been slashed by 50 % that is from $10000 to $5000 by the Sports Ministry.

The supposed reduction did not go down well with the Black Stars players especially skipper Asamoah Gyan and his deputy Andre Ayew who could not hide their disappointment.

Speaking to Kumasi-based Sikka FM; the management committee chairman emphatically revealed that he and his group were never formally communicated to on the issue before the Ministry decided to implement it.

“If someone asked me that, has the Ministry officially written to the GFA that the Black Stars winning bonuses has been slashed; I will emphatically say no. We’ve never received any communication of that sort,” Afriyie stated.

“Even if he (Sports Minister) is to invite us to his office, everything is normally documented. You know it’s very important that in this modern day or era, every decision is documented because that will serve as a proof.”

“So if you asked me that whether we’ve received anything formal from the ministry or if you say the government of which the ministry is representing, I will say no,” he added.

Ghana drew goalless with Comoros away in the first leg of the 2018 World Cup qualifier and will need a win in the return leg to make it to the second round.
