Northern Region wallops Brong Ahafo in soccer

Kumasi, June 23, GNA - Northern Region overwhelmed their Brong Ahafo counterparts in the Under-15 boys football match at the on-going National Sports Festival when they walloped them 7-0 in Kumasi on Tuesday.

Leading the Northern Region attack was Adam Abdallah who scored six of the goals and Adam Razak scored the other goal to record the highest score so far in the boys Under-15 football division of the Festival.

Eastern Region also beat Upper West Region 1-0 with Rennel Adjei scoring the only goal of the match in the 13th minute.

In the other matches played, Central and Western Regions drew one-all, while Eastern Region beat Greater Accra 2-1 and Ashanti Region disposed of Upper East Region with a 4-1 bang.

In the basketball men's matches, Police Service beat their Armed Forces counterparts by 62 baskets to 42 and Eastern Region lost 49-86 to Customs, Excise and Preventive Service (CEPS), Prison Service defeated Upper East 45-37 while the Universities beat Fire Service 52-34. In the women's basketball, Police beat Northern Region by 82 baskets to 26 while Prison Service lost narrowly by 28-29 to the Greater Accra Region.

CEPS women whacked Ashanti Region 7-1 in their hockey match and Greater Accra and the Universities settled for a one- all draw drawn game, while Police Service had a walkover of the Eastern Region and Fire Service and Prisons Service fought to a goalless drawn game. Western Region lost 0-2 to the Eastern Region in the men's hockey while Greater Accra Region beat Central Region 38-14 in the netball match.

In the volleyball men's division, Western Region beat Ashanti Region by two games to one.
