Nostalgic Dong Bortey misses playing days at Hearts Of Oak

Former Hearts of Oak winger Bernard Dong Bortey have revealed that his best times in football were when he took that bold step of signing for the club after leaving then premiership side GHAPOHA.

The player, who came into the limelight at Hearts of Oak with his ability to outwit defenders with pacey runs, told SportsCrusader.com that he missed his playing days for the Phobians and will give everything to relive those glorious days.

“Everybody who followed me and my career knows that Hearts of Oak was the best thing to ever happen to me in terms of Club football. I did so much with them and for them, even earning a chance to play in the national team at one point in time,” Bortey said.

“I must say though I have moved on to play for several other Clubs, I still miss those days when the supporters chanted my name throughout matches and were giving me all sorts of accolades because of the way I played,” he added.

He, however, revealed that he was looking forward to taking up a role in the technical department of the Hearts of Oak team once he retires from the game.

“I have not retired yet but when I do, I will return to the Club again, maybe in another capacity which I don’t know yet.”
