Ghanaian Premier League side Nsoatreman FC could be facing the wrath of CAF after presenting an ineligible head coach for their preliminary Confederation Cup match on Sunday.
The FA Cup champions, Nsoatreman FC, are poised to face Elect Sport FC of Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday with the hope of progressing to the next stage of the competition.
However, head coach Yaw Preko, who will be leading the team, is yet to be officially released by his club, Accra Shooting Stars FC, where he is currently listed as head coach.
Nsoatreman FC announced Yaw Preko as head coach in an unveiling ceremony on July 9, 2024.
GhanaWeb sources indicate that Nsoatreman FC did the unveiling without completing the required negotiations with Accra Shooting Stars FC for an official release.
With Nsoatreman FC pushing through with their determination to have Yaw Preko in the dugout, they could be infringing the rules of CAF regarding coach/player eligibility.
Yaw Preko is unqualified to sit on the bench of Nsoatreman FC on Sunday should the club fail to complete the required release proceedings with Accra Shooting Stars FC.
