Nsoatreman FC secured a hefty GH₵180,000 prize after clinching the 2023/24 FA Cup trophy in a thrilling final clash against regional rivals Bofoakwa Tano at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium on Sunday evening.
The match ended 1-1 after regular time, with Bofoakwa Tano taking the lead in the 21st minute through Richard Dzikoe's close-range strike, assisted by Ali Alhassan's precise cross.
Nsoatreman FC equalized late in the second half when Sadat Mohammed capitalized on a goalkeeper's mistake with a long-range effort.
After a tense extra time without goals, the match was decided by a dramatic penalty shootout, which Nsoatreman FC won 5-4, thereby claiming the prestigious MTN FA Cup trophy.
"We're thrilled to announce that this season's FA Cup champions will receive GH₵80,000, along with an additional GH₵100,000 to aid in their preparations for the CAF Confederation Cup," stated Mr. Wilson Arthur, who is the Chairman of the FA Cup Committee.
"Discussions are ongoing with the FA and government to secure further funding to bolster the club's prospects in Africa."
Looking ahead, Nsoatreman FC eagerly anticipates their debut campaign in the CAF Confederation Cup next season, aiming to leave a lasting impression on the continental stage.
