Nukunu wins Price Waterhouse Golf Open

Accra, July 9, GNA - Patrick Nuku returned a net score of 68 to win the maiden Price Waterhouse Coopers Open Golf Championship played at the Achimota Golf Course in Accra on Saturday.

Godwin Bada took the second position with 69 net followed by Edmond Donton at the third position with 70 net, while E.K. Osei came fourth with 71 net, beating Kingsley Tettedzi and Emmanuel Tenkorang on count-back.

In the Ladies event, Helen Krale came first with 68 net with Jeannette Hill taking the second position with 70 net and Mary Morgan grabbed the third position with 71 net beating Francesca Vandyck on count-back while Maria Ben-George placed fifth with 72 net. Yao Daniels won the Professionals' category with 71 gross followed by Paul Dossey second position with 74 gross when he beat John Dorman on count-back while W.E. Ankrah took the fourth position with 77 net.

The one-day 18-Hole Medal play which was opened to amateur and professional golfers in the Greater Accra Region attracted more than 120 participants.

Mr Charles Hagan, Country Leader and Senior Partner of Price Waterhouse Coopers said the company would continue to offer its support to the development of the Golf and has agreed to sponsor Hole Number Seven.

Mr Mike Ezan, President of the Achimota Golf Club commended the company for their contribution towards the development of the sport. Mrs Gloria Akuffo, Minister for Aviation and Mr Hagan assisted to present prizes to the various winners.
