Former General Manager of Accra Hearts of Oak, Vincent Odotei Sowah, feels vindicated by the latest documentary by Anas Aremeyaw Anas dubbed; Number #12.
The Member of Parliament for La Dadekotopong Constituency says he was not startled by the revelations in the Anas documentary since he has been a preacher of corruption in football under Kwesi Nyantakyi’s regime.
In an interview with Ashh FM in Kumasi, the Deputy Communications Minister expatiates that he was vilified 15 years ago for standing tooth and nail against the Ghana Football Association at the detriment of his life.
“I wouldn’t want to talk much about that because you are preaching to the converted. If you can recall, for the past 15 years, I have been open and bold to highlight some of these things happening in football,” Odotei Sowah fumed.
“I used my life and resources even at the peril of my life to highlight on some of these things. It is really unfortunate,” he added.
He was, however, quick to suggest that football will have to strive once more by ensuring it becomes a lucrative venture for investors and other people in life.
He unambiguously added that, new structures in football should help people make careers out of it.
“We just have to move on to make sure that we remain committed to reforming it again and make ensure it becomes a good business to people who want to invest, to ensure it will be a good career for footballers, for those who have studied administration in whatever field, for people who are in marketing, for accountants.
“Football should be able to attract people so that it can compete with the financial sector.”People should be able to make a career out of it. It has been a challenge facing us over a decade now. It is unfortunate. People should reminisce 13 years back and juxtapose it with the #12 exposé and we will all see where issues lie.” He concluded.
