There was an intense religious battle at the Justice Senyo Presidential Commission on Inquiry, when Kwesi Nyantakyi, President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA)'s religious belief was questioned on Wednesday.

Nyantakyi, who on Tuesday, took an oath by swearing with the Holy Quran, to the surprise of many who thought he was a Christian, was asked by the chairman to take a new oath.

This was after Justice Dzamefe had asked him whether he was a Muslim, when he took an oath on Tuesday with a Quran.

The directive was opposed by his counsel Thaddeus Sory, who argued that, his client was given three options; Holy Bible, Holy Quran and the Cross and decided to choose one.

“My Lord, I don’t think proceedings here have anything to do with religion. My client chose how he wanted to take his oath so there is no need for taking a new oath”, Sory stated.

Nyantakyi whose mood changed during the legal tussle told the commission that, “I don’t think I have being treated fairly, because I read on online that, I will be made to take the oath again.

“What is happening here is a replay of what I read online, and I not happy. I have never seen this in my career despite years of experience,” the president said.

He however, stated that, he was subjected to the jurisdiction of the chairman, and was prepared to swear again, but this was interjected by Moses Foh-Amoaning.

Foh-Amoaning said that he was offended by the allegations of Nyantakyi which sought to accuse them of bias adding that, the GFA president’s position was meant to question the integrity of the Commission.

Nyantakyi, however apologised to Foh-Amoaning to restore calm to the room for proceedings to continue.

Justice Dzamefe, reviewed his earlier position to take a new oath and asked the clerk to remind the FA president of his earlier oath for proceedings to continue.
