Nyantakyi to resign Black Stars Management C'ttee role

President of the Ghana Football Association Kwesi Nyantakyi has finally confirmed that he has accepted to relinquish his position as the Management Committee Chairman of the Black Stars.

His final revelation comes in the wake of public criticism of his involvement in Ghana’s shambolic and ignominious campaign at the 2014 FIFA World Cup where Ghana exited the competition at the end of the group stage amid a series of off-pitch issues, the first in the country’s eight-year World Cup finals participation history.

On the team’s return home, the CAF Executive Committee Member had dropped hints of an imminent departure from the position on various platforms, a situation he now confirmed when he spoke to Peace FM.

“I have accepted to vacate the position,” Nyantakyi revealed to the Accra-based station.

“I have noticed Ghanaians are really worried over it. I think there are many people around who can take up the position as the management committee chairman.

“When it’s time for the review for the various management committees, maybe you might not see me as the management committee chairman,” he concluded.

In December 2005, Nyantakyi was elected president of the Ghana Football Association and has since led Ghana to three successive World Cups.
