Hearts of Oak’s Strategy Committee chairman Vincent Sowah Odotei says the fourth place finish at the end of the first round is an underachievement.

The Phobians amassed 13 appoints after the opening five matches and were expected to build on that but rather retrogressed.

They finished with 26 points after 15 rounds of matches despite remaining the only unbeaten side away.

Odotei is of the view that Hearts of Oak were average.

"I think that we have been very sub-optimal looking at how we started on fire," Odotei told the Graphic Sports in an interview last Monday.

"We got 13 points from the first five games and another 13 points after, we are not happy about that because this group of management and the board are winners and we want to make sure that the investment and structures we have put in will see the team perform.

"We are not discussing the employment conditions of any of our staff in public but I can confirm that we are looking at a lot of players. We want to invest a lot of money into players in this club.

"I can assure the supporters that we are going to be very competitive in the second round."
