Operations Manager of the West Africa Football Academy (WAFA), George Ofosuhene has scored the referees who officiated the just-ended Ghana Premier League (GPL) 50 per cent.
The officials were criticised for their poor performance as some clubs accused them of taking bribe and aiding in match-fixing.
“I will rate the performance of the referees 50 per cent. In the first round, the officiating was good and no club official complained but club officials started complaining in the second round of the league which means they did only half the work,” he told Class Sports.
Mr Ofosuhene further called on the Ghana Football Association to punish referees who fail to perform.
“I will suggest that referees should be punished properly because one fault of a referee can send a club to relegation. Their decisions can sometimes even send a player to a long-term injury. So, for me I will suggest referees be punished properly if they fail to take the right decision,” he said.
