Oguaaman express gratitude for. ..

... inclusion into list of towns to host CAN 2008
Accra, July 20, GNA - The Oguaaman Union, the chiefs and people of Cape Coast Municipality have expressed their gratitude to the Local Organising Committee (LOC) of the CAN 2008 and the Ministry of Education and Sports for including Cape Coast into the list of towns selected to host the CAN 2008.

A statement jointly signed by Mr Ted Bernasko and S.N. Brew Buttler President and General Secretary of the Union and Miss Christine Churcher, a Patron of the Union copied to the GNA Sports said the selection provides Cape Coast and its environs the opportunity to portray to Africa and the world their rich tourism potentials. The statement said Oguaa without doubt deserves the recognition and honour because of its contributions towards association football in the country since it produced some football greats like Aggrey Fynn, Derby, Robert Mensah and Tim Berbah for the nation.

It added that the town has also produced sound football administrators who have helped in the development of the game in Ghana. The statement said the Municipality can boast of numerous tourists attractions including forts and castles of historic importance, Cathedrals, the Kakum Forest and Victoria Park where the bust of Queen Victoria of Great Britain is displayed.
