Okwahu triumph over Liberty

Okwawu United beat Liberty Professionals by a lone goal in their match played at the Nkawkaw Park on Sunday.

The goal was scored in the sixth minute through a penalty when a hard pressed defender of Liberty handled the ball in the '18' for defender George Tutu to socre.

Liberty counter-attacked after the goal, with veteran striker, Kofi Deblah combining effectively with Derek Boateng. They, however, failed to utilise the few chances that came their way.

Okwawu nearly made it 2-0 in the 26th minute, but centre forward Essuman Dadzie's scissor-kick in the '18' was parried over the bar by Loius Quainoo in posts for Liberty.

Okwawu continued to pile up pressure and wasted two free kicks outside the Liberty penalty area in the 32nd and 38th minutes.

In the 53rd minute, Liberty brought on Cudjoe Addo for injured goalkeeper Quainoo, while Okwawu also brought on Nii Aryee Tetteh and Richard Addo for Leonard Cofie and Thomas Otinkorang in the 63rd minute.

The changes nearly benefited Okwawu as they came close in the 67th and 68th minutes, but Dadzie and Kwesi Asante's shots at goal were saved by Liberty's goalie.

Liberty put everything into the game for the much-needed equaliser, but the defence of Okwawu, pivoted around Eddie Acquaye, Seth Osei and George Tutu, foiled all their efforts at goal.
