Okwawu Beat B/A

At Koforidua, Brong Ahafo (BA) United put up a plucky performance but lost by a lone goal to Okwahu United in their Zone "B" Premier League match played at the Mpraeso Brighton's Park on Wednesday.

The only goal of the match was scored in the 57th minute through a penalty taken by Okwahu's outside left, Thomas Avegbordor.

Okwahu United kicked-off on a fast note but soon lost control to their opponents who piled up pressure in search for an early goal but their efforts were foiled by the defense of the home team pivoted around right-half-back Edward Acquaye.

Okwahu United redoubled their efforts but wasted three scoring chances in the 20th, 31st and 33rd minutes with B.A's goal-keeper, Joseph Quansah making good saves of all the attempts.

In the 34th minute, B.A's central defender, Alex Odenkey was shown the red card by FIFA referee, Vivian Aggor for rough tackling on Okwahu United's inside-right, Kwabena Yaro but they failed to capitalize on their numerical advantage to take the lead until the recess. On resumption of the second half, Okwahu United brought in Amarboi Yusif for center-forward, Obed Owusu while B.A United also pulled out outside left, Fridas Ishmael with Twum Baiden.

The defense of the visitors led by keeper Quansah managed to thwart all the efforts of the home side of getting a goal.

In the 57th minute, the homesters were awarded a penalty when Yaro was heavily brought down by left-full-back, Daniel Quao in their vital area and Avegbordor who elected himself for the kick beat keeper Quansah to register the only goal of the match.

B.A United put in all efforts for the equalizer with center-forward Daniel Bonfah combining effectively with outside left Osumanu Sakora and outside-right Kwasi Boateng working over time but the Okawhu defense managed to prevent them from scoring.
