The official social media pages of the Olympic Games were forced to publish another video following massive backlash after the official highlight reel of the Paris 2024 Games featured no black or African athletes.
Allegations and criticism of racism were immediately levelled against the organizers as people wondered why some prominent black athletes were conspicuously missing from the highlights despite their incredible achievements at the Games.
The video reel titled ‘Merci’ captured some noteworthy achievements at the games, but conspicuously missing were Letsile Tebogo’s outstanding achievements in the men’s 200m events.
The absence of Tebogo and other black athletes led to a barrage of attacks on the page, with some people believing that it was deliberate and a manifestation of the organizers’ racist tendencies.
Following the backlash, the pages have published a new video which is dominated by record-breakers and gold winners with incredible stories at the event.
The 2024 Olympic Games, which started on Friday, July 26, 2024, ended on Sunday, August 11, 2024, with the United States of America winning the most medals.
Ghana, who had nine athletes at the Games, came home without a medal.

The fucking Olympics did a Black and White version of the games highlights. It’s laughable tbh, scary too. https://t.co/fXInPgRDD7
Paris Olympic 2024 is by far the worst Olympic I've ever witnessed. Blatant racism, infrastructure failure, and many more.

Did you guys hire interns to do shit from top to bottom? But tbh even interns could do better, y'all just shit. https://t.co/NdDqK8PQqA
No one exemplifies racism like the @Olympics racists. Year in, year out, they never disappoint on that score. Worse this year it was in the land of those dispossession & murder stars France, who reigned over 80 colonies. As recently as 1960, they dropped nuclear bombs on Algeria.

Africa complained about not being included in the Olympics video and the Olympics just made a black people video.

Faith Kipyegon 3rd 1500m gold has never been done before. Letsile Tebogo won first Africa 200m gold.
Deliberate and/or ingrained racism.
Same thing that was evident in the biased commentary for the global feed. Shame! https://t.co/XNxQtvPu5G
Chebet is double Olympic champion. Kipyegon just ran an OR to win gold in 1500m. Yavi won Gold in 3000m.
