Ghana's answer to Joey Barton must be Baba "Armando" Adamu, for you would have to go at length to find a more self-assured and brazenly opinionated player than the talented-but-troubled player.
His latest rant about how nobody in the current Black Stars team, bar Andre 'Dede' Ayew, is better than he is would provide commentary for days.
Known to be ridiculously talented but also problematic, Armando - a named given to him due to the sheer brilliance he displayed at his peak - has traveled a lot in his career and was last abroad on the books of Al Hilal of Sudan.
Two seasons ago, he signed for then reigning Premier League champions Berekum Chelsea in a well-publicized move but, perhaps predictably, the relationship has crashed.
"You can go back the last several years of Black Stars teams and you won't find a player better than me. Perhaps the only one is Andre Ayew," he noted in an interview.
A former Black Stars attacker, Adamu has had a start-stop career that led to the move with Chelsea, where he played less than a dozen games.
"I am not ready to play for Berekum Chelsea anymore. I have calls from agencies outside and when I am ready I will leave. I will rather play for a division two side in Accra and get my fitness and leave. Later on by God’s grace we will move on."
Now he says he would rather ply his trade with a third-tier team than for the soaring Blues.
