Former Black Stars defender, Samuel Osei Kuffour, has backed Otto Addo to succeed as the head coach of the Black Stars.

Kuffour believes that Otto Addo has the right orientation and nurturing to succeed, owing to his German background.

Speaking with Angel TV, the former Bayern Munich defender highlighted the relationship he had with the manager during their playing days for the Black Stars.

"I had the opportunity to play with him, and he was one of my closest pals on the team. I have had the chance to see him up close as a technical person during our qualifiers against Nigeria and during the World Cup. He is the kind of person who always wants the best. His mentality is different because he comes from Germany. He knows what he wants, so his training sessions and everything are different," he said.

He urged Ghanaians to overlook the Black Stars' poor performance in the 2022 World Cup and focus on the task of qualifying for the 2026 edition of the intercontinental showpiece.

"He sometimes seeks my opinion on issues, and I have been honest with him. It’s a good choice that we brought him back. We should forget about the World Cup and focus on what we want to do, which is qualifying for the World Cup," he added.

Otto Addo, who left his role as Ghana's coach after the 2022 FIFA World Cup, was re-appointed in March 2024.

Since his return, he has managed four games, winning two, drawing one, and losing one.
