Otoo, Arday and Idun guns for Premiership Player Award

Accra, May 16, GNA - Striker Mahatma Otoo of Accra Hearts of Oak, Lee Addy of Chelsea and Kessben FC Bismarck Idun have been short listed by the Premier League Board (PLB) for the 2009/10 Premier Footballer of the Year. The event, which is slated for Friday, May 21, at the Banquet Hall, State House is to reward outstanding players, administrators and coaches in the just ended soccer season.

Also nominated for the awards are; Aduna's goalie Stephen Adams, who featured in 29 of the 30 games and conceded nine goals, along side Heart of Lions' Stephen Ahorlu and Daniel Adjei of Liberty Professionals for the Best Goalkeeper of the season award.

This was disclosed at the launching of the 5th Edition of the PLB Awards by Welbeck Yaw Abra-Appiah, Chairman of the PLB. For the Best Defender Award category, Lee Addy of Chelsea, Hearts of Oak's Karim Alhassan and Dan Addo of King Faisal have been nominated, while Godfred Saka -Aduana, Samuel Affum - Hearts and Frank Acheampong of King Faisal will vie for honours in the Most Promising Player Award category, with Hearts' striker Affum and Bismarck Idun g oing home as joint top scorers with 15 goals for the Top Scorer Award.

Ashgold's coach David Duncan, Aduana's Herbert Addo and Faisal's Zdravko Lodarusic will battle for the Best Coach Award, whilst Best Chief Executive Officer category has Cudjoe Fianoo - Ashgold, Samuel Oduro Nyarko - Wa All Stars and Edward Asare of Aduana Stars vying for honours in this category.

Referee Joseph Lamptey, S.B. Bortey and Thomas Nunoo have been nominated for the Best Referee Award with the Best Assistant referee award being competed for by Harunah Ayuba, George Sajah and David Laryea. Wa All Stars, Berekum Chelsea and Aduana Stars are the nominees for the Fair Play Award.

Augustine Asante, JK Boateng and GB Awuakye are the nominees for the Best Match Commissioner Award, while Liberty Professionals, All Stars and Lions will be gunning for the Best Behaved Club supporters. The other nominees are Samuel Kwasi Buckman, Stephen Asamoah and Elvis Tawiah Mensah who have been short listed for the PLB video cameraman award, as Liberty Professionals, Ashgold and Hearts of Oak have been short listed for the Best Functional Premier League Club Office Award. 16 May 10
