The future roles of some veteran players in the Black Stars appear uncertain due to a strategic shift by the team's coach, Otto Addo.

Reports from Angel FM suggest that ahead of announcing the squad for the upcoming matches against Mali and the Central African Republic, Otto Addo has met with senior Black Stars players.

It's reported that Addo held individual meetings with players such as Thomas Partey, Andre Ayew, and Daniel Amartey to discuss his vision.

The report reveals that Addo intends to phase out reliance on older players and focus on nurturing the younger talent within the team.

While the veteran players are expected to be included in the squad for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Mali and the Central African Republic, their involvement is likely to diminish in future selections.

The 'renewed' Black Stars are anticipated to feature Mohammed Kudus of West Ham United as a central figure, with Antoine Semenyo, Kamaldeen Sulemana, Tariq Lamptey, and others poised to play more pivotal roles.

Otto Addo is slated to announce the squad for the matches against Mali and the Central African Republic shortly.

Earlier reports suggested that Addo would arrive in Ghana this week for the squad announcement, but subsequent updates on Monday, May 20, 2024, indicate that his arrival might be postponed until after the UEFA Champions League final.

The Black Stars are scheduled to face Mali in Bamako on June 6, followed by a match against the Central African Republic at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on June 10.
