Black Stars head coach, Otto Addo, has detailed that two factors contributed to his side win over Mali in the 2024 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

He indicated his substitution turned the game on its head and won the match. In addition to his substitutions, he noted that the Black Stars had the luck to score and secure the 'deserved' result.

He acknowledged Mali's quality, stating that they did not deserve to be booed after the loss after the defeat.

"Mali has a good team; I don't think it's fair for the fans to boo the team, to be honest. Our substitutions won the game.

"At the end, it was a little bit lucky to score, but the result was well deserved. We played well," he said in his post-match interview.

Ernest Nuamah and Jordan Ayew inspired Ghana to a 2-1 comeback win over Mali to record their first victory of Otto Addo's second spell.

Following the win, Ghana has risen to second in the group, tied with Comoros at 6 points. Mali is third with 4 points, followed by the Central African Republic, Madagascar, and Chad with 4, 3, and 0 points, respectively.
