Our Hands Are Clean - Kwesi Nyantakyi

PRESIDENT of the Ghana Football Association, Kwesi Nyantakyi has told 90 MINUTES that his hands and that of his colleagues at the FA are clean since he believes they have not misappropriated or enriched themselves with public funds as has been rumoured in recent times by a section of the Ghanaian press.

Speaking in defence of the FA, the FA capo wondered why such rumours which contain no iota of truth would be put out in the public domain just to malign him and other FA officials despite working hard to bring Ghana football to its current enviable position.

“Even if we do not get any praise for raising the standard of the game in recent times, then I honestly don't think we should be disgraced for something we know nothing about. Our hands are clean and I don't think any findings against us will prove that we have squandered or misdirected any monies meant for specific purposes,” he said.

Nyantakyi however said that though he will take the appropriate steps to redeem his hard-won image and prove his innocence, the FA will not in any way allow the rumours to affect their desire and passion to continue to improve soccer in Ghana. “Despite the spread of these untruths, we will not lose focus but continue to strive hard to put Ghana football where it truly belongs. We won't allow some of these comments to derail our ambition of getting Ghana to the 2010 World Cup in South-Africa,” he assured.
