Former Black Stars and Asante Kotoko defender Issah Ahmed has contrasted Aduana Stars midfielder Yaya Mohammed by insisting that there are no more talented players in the Ghana Premier league as they had during their days.
The Aduana Stars midfielder had noted that the Ghana Premier League has talented players than the European Leagues, but the former Kotoko defender insists that there is little that can be said about the talents in the league.
In an interview, Issah Ahmed said it is scarce to come by a pool of quality players in the league as compared to their days in the early and mid-2000s.
“The quality players in the system today are very scarce. They are not as many as we had during our days in Ghana.’
“Clubs like Kotoko and Hearts always want to go to Africa Club Competitions and perform, but the quality of the players we have been such that when our teams go to Africa, they can’t perform.”
“I know many people may misquote me but what I want to establish is that we don’t have quality players in the league like we used to have during our heydays.”
Issah Ahmed played alongside Joseph Hendricks, George Owu, Aziz Ansah, Charles Taylor, Micheal Osei and a couple of other talented players for the Porcupine Warriors.
