Former Ghana captain Stephen Appiah was handed a surprise birthday bash on the Turkish power barge in Tema.
Appiah who turned 35 on Thursday was given a personal tour of the floating power vessel before being treated to a mini birthday bash in one of the cabins of the ship.
The Karpowership barge which has a power producing capacity of 225 megawatts arrived in Ghana last month as part of government’s measures to solve the energy crisis.
The power barge which was manufactured in Turkey, according to sources, are partly funded by football giants Fenerbahce.
Appiah remains a cult figure at the Turkish club, where he played to the delight of officials and the fans during his active playing days.
It was based on this link that the former Black Stars captain was given an opportunity to celebrate his birthday on board.
Stephen Appiah played for Fenerbahce between 2005-2008 after spending six years in Italy where he played for Udinese, Parma, Brescia and Juventus.
