The Chairman of the Premier League Board AshFord Tetteh Oku has condemned supporters of Kumasi Asante for attacking a journalist during the Porcupine Warriors’ clash with Dreams FC in the week 23 of the Ghana Premier League.

The Sports Journalist who works with Jem FM in Kumasi was attacked by a section of the club’s fans whilst running commentary for his station.

The attacked from Kotoko fans came following referee Nathan Anafo’s decision to awared a penalty to the hosts team which the journalists from the Kumasi-based radio station insisted was not a fair judgement from the official.

And the Chairman of the PLB, in condemning the act has also commended Asante Kotoko for issuing a statement to also condemn the incident.

“I must say Kudos to Asante Kotoko for officially condemning the act but let me also add that it was not the best,” he told GHANAsoccernet.com

“Under no conditions must a journalist be subjected to beatings by fans of a club. We need to understand the game and accept each other’s opinions,” he added.

He however cautioned the journalist and others to respect structures by not crossing the line of duty when executing their jobs.

“I am not justifying the act of the fans but the journalist should have also respected the laid down structures for his work. Where he was running the commentary was dangerous that is why they have a commentary box,” he cautioned.
