Paintsil: Sorry I can't play Ghana

John Paintsil has apologized to his country, Ghana, for not being able to represent them at the African Cup of Nations due to an injury.

Paintsil suffered the injury at the weekend while playing for Fulham and could be out of action for up to six weeks.

Speaking to Ghanasoccernet.com, Paintsil said: "Mum and dad, families, friends, fans and above all Ghanaians, I just want to say a big sorry to all of you. "I am saying a big sorry because I will not be making it to the African Cup of Nations in Angola.

"I promise you all that this team will bring the cup home without me in the name of our good Lord... everybody say Amen!

"Go Ghana, Go Black Stars Of Ghana,"

Paintsil's injury is one of many concerns for the Black Stars who are hot favourites to lift the trophy with Stephen Appiah, Laryea Kingston and John Mensah also missing out.

Chelsea midfielder, Michael Essien is also a huge doubt which will definitely hurt Ghana's chances of winning the biggest competition in African football.
