Paintsil handlers upset over police conduct

Public Relations Officer for Black Star player John Paintsil has expressed disgust at the manner in which the Police handled the recent alleged assault on his wife, Richlove Paintsil.

“We are not happy with the manner the police handled the issue… for the police PRO to just break the news that John actually stabbed his wife is a matter of interest to us because we feel the police should have relaxed and investigated the issue before issuing a statement,” he stated.

According to Mr. Aidoo, John Paintsil is a star and such reports were not favorable to him.

“John is a big star both in Ghana and internationally. He’s a role model as well. They have both regretted their actions, patched up and are living together happily now,” he said.

Mr. Aidoo further indicated: “On that particular Friday, tempers flared in John’s house and got out of hand but at the end of the day, John did not stab his wife; his wife did not scale the neighbour’s wall. Let us all wait for the police investigation to end so we know what truly happened.”

Over the weekend, Black Stars defender John Paintsil was arrested by the police for allegedly abusing his wife physically.

Earlier reports from the Greater Accra PRO of Police, DSP Freeman Tettey, stated that after initial investigations, it was established that the footballer had stabbed his wife.

However, speaking on the Citi Breakfast show on Monday, DSP Freeman Tettey clarified that the player did not stab his wife.
