Greek giants Panathinaikos have been ordered to pay Michael Essien a staggering € 419,000 as compensation to bring an end to the litigation between the two sides, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.
Ghana's leading football website, GHANAsoccernet.com revealed last week that the Finance Dispute Resolution chamber of the Greek Football Federation will rule on the long-winding legal tussle this week.
The former Chelsea star was demanding in excess of €651,000 severance package for the wrongful termination of his contract in September last year.
But the Ghanaian received less money after dragging the Greens to the FA for failure to honour an agreed payment plan.
"The Primary Committee for resolving Economic Disputes of EPO during last meeting took the following decision (315/2017) regarding the appeal of football player Michael Essien against Panathinaikos FC," the verdict read
"Judge are adversarial. Accepts, by majority vote, partly the appeal. Rejects what was deemed rejected.
Obliges the Prof ' to pay the applicant the sum total of four hundred and eighteen thousand and seventy five euro (418,975), with statutory interest on arrears from the 23/12/2016, date of filing of the appeal until full repayment.
Essien is currently on the books of Indonesian side Persib Bandung.
