Paris 2024: GOC President praises French Embassy for £20,000 support to team Ghana

The President of the Ghana Olympic Committee, Ben Nunoo Mensah, has praised the French Embassy in Ghana for their generous financial support to the Ghanaian team as they prepare for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games in France.

He highlighted the embassy's contribution of £20,000, expressing the team's deep appreciation and hope for continued support, which has been ongoing for the past two years.

Nunoo Mensah urged other organizations and institutions to contribute any amount possible to ensure Ghana's contingent is well-prepared for the games.

During the official unveiling of Team Ghana's Olympic kit, attended by Marine Hayem, Cooperation Attaché of the French Embassy, Nunoo Mensah conveyed his gratitude for the embassy's support.

Expressing his contentment, he said, "I'm very happy. It's a boost any sports administrator would welcome, and we are particularly grateful to the French Embassy. Their consistent support over the last two years has been invaluable. While we wish for more local companies to join in, we are content with the current support and hopeful it will inspire others to contribute."

According to citinewsroom.com, he added, "We are pleased with what we have and we hope it will motivate others to come on board and support us."

The nine athletes representing Ghana at the games include Abdul R. Saminu, Benjamin Azamati, Joseph Paul Amoah, Edwin Gadayi, Joselle Mensah, Isaac Botsio, Fuseini Ibrahim, and Rose Yeboah.

The Paris Olympic Games are scheduled from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
