Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey is hoping he can become a regular fixture of the Black Stars after joining up with the squad for the first time.

Partey trained with the Stars on Tuesday and told reporters he is honoured to have been called up after his breakthrough season with the Spanish side.

The midfielder was dropped from the Ghana squad for 2013 World Youth Championship but is confident he can make the most of his latest opportunity.

“It’s every player’s dream to come and play for the national team, so I am happy to be here,” he told reporters. “Am trying to learn from those who have been here and am trying to do my best to be able to fit into the team.”

Partey would compete for a spot in a crowded midfield that is reckoned to be one of the strongest on the continent but is up for the fight.

“I know we have a good team, and it's about hard work and what the coach wants to use me for so am happy to be here.”
