Hiroshima, Aug. 22, GNA – Captain of the Black Princesses, Mercy Myles says past failures will fuel the team’s quest to beat Germany when they meet in a second Group D game at the Ball Game Stadium in Hiroshima on Thursday.

Ghana requires all three points to breathe a measure of hope into their campaign following a 0-4 thumping by the United States of America in their opener and Myles insists the highly efficient German side is beatable.

“Everybody is thinking Germany but to me, Germany is beatable. They are standing in our way now and we know that. Sometimes when you are very angry you can do things that when you are through, it will marvel you as to what you could do.

“This is the most important game. If hopefully we are able to win and the next, we will still stand a chance. When you are so angry and in so much pain you tend to do things that in your actual sense you even marvel.

“If you have this kind of attitude alongside with the correction the technical team has done after the loss to USA, I think we should be able to do it. Every player has seen what went wrong and we are hopeful.

Captain Myles added “We know it will be a very tough game because if we had drawn with the Americans then things will have been different but we still can do it. We still have to fight; after all we have nothing to lose.”

Germany sits at the apex of Group D with America both on three points following both teams impressive 4-0 wins over China and Ghana respectively last Monday.

This is the first time both teams are meeting at this level.
