German-born defender of Ghanaian descent, Patric Pfeiffer, has finally completed his nationality switch from Germany to Ghana and is now available to play for the Black Stars.

The 24-year-old defender was part of five players who switched nationalities to play for Ghana back in 2022 prior to the FIFA World Cup.

Unfortunately, the player never earned a Black Stars call-up as it was later discovered that his switch was incomplete.

In the latest update, the Augsburg player has revealed that he has received his Ghanaian passport and is hoping to earn his first call-up in September.

“A few weeks ago, I was in Ghana and now I have my passport,” the German youth international told South African journalists during Augsburg’s pre-season camp in Mpumalanga.

“I hope in September, I can get a call-up. I know the coach, Otto Addo, because he was the coach of Hamburg in the youth team [where I played].

“I have good contacts with him. I wanted to join the Black Stars before but I didn’t have my passport, but now it’s done and I’m ready,” Patric Pfeiffer stated.

Patric Pfeiffer started his career with Hamburger SV before going on to join Darmstadt 98.

He joined Augsburg in the 2023/24 season and made only eleven appearances in the Bundesliga due to injuries.

Patric Pfeiffer played for Germany's youth side at the under-18 and under-19 levels, making four appearances in total.
