Pay the FIFA fine before you complain- Kofi Manu advises Kotoko

Former Ghana Football Association’s Player Status Committee Chairman, Kofi Manu has advised Asante Kotoko to respect the verdict from FIFA concerning the legal tussle between them and Esperance over the transfer of Emmanuel Clottey.

Kotoko has been found to have violated FIFA’s regulations when they dubiously signed Clottey in 2015, at a time the player had a binding contract with the Tunisian giants.

It will be recalled that the FIFA Disciplinary Committee came out with their final verdict on the Asante Kotoko-Emmanuel Clottey and Esperance de Tunis transfer saga, ordering the Porcupines to pay $180,000 to the Tunisian giants as compensation.

Also, the two times African Champions will pay an interest of $45,000 for failing to meet the initial deadline given them and a further $15,000 to the Disciplinary Committee that sat on the case amassing to a sum of $240,000.

Sharing his opinion on the issue, Kofi Manu hinted that the verdict cannot be changed hence they should make the payments before the new May 10 deadline.

“This final verdict is a FIFA decision which is simply irreversible and must be respected before any other complaints. So Kotoko should look for that $240,00.00 and make the necessary payments to FIFA and Esperance respectively before chasing their $150,000.00,” Blue Boy concluded.
