Peter Lamptey, Ghana's first 'goalking'

Arguably, Peter Lamptey is one of the best things to have happened to Ghana football "Where are they" can confirm.

His exceptional striking prowess earned him the nickname 'goal thief'.Lamptey scored 26 goals in 21 games and that feat attracted the attention of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) which consequently rewarded him as the first top scorer in the country.

Responding what was his secrete to his goal scoring proficiency, he revealed on Happy FM that: "I consider goalscoring as a gift, I did not learn it although you need some guidelines from the technical bench, it came naturally."

Th former Accra Hearts of Oak forward indicated that during his era, they played as a team and the national interest was their focal point and not financial gains hence, the high quality of soccer.

He was invited to the Black Stars in 1971 and played along side players like Rev Osei Kofi, Malik Jabir, Ibrahim Sunday and according to him, they esteemed discipline in every aspect of h game.

He admonished the up-and-coming generation to go to their maker in prayer in times of need and acknowledge God in all they do.And like the Biblical Apostle Paul, he told Charles Osei Asibey that:"I am comfortable in life by the grace of God.'
