Peugeot Challenge Cup for July 3

Accra, June 3, GNA - This year International Golf Tournament, dubbed "Peugeot Challenge Golf Cup Tournament" has been fixed for July 3, at the Achimota Golf Club.

Prestige Motor Company Limited, Sole Dealers of Peugeot vehicles in Ghana and the official organisers and sponsors of the tournament for the past 20 years will also use the occasion to mark its 20th anniversary. Three regional qualifiers would, however, be held across the regions to select players for the finals.

The Kumasi Golf Club will host the Ashanti Regional qualifier on Saturday June 19, with the Western Regional qualifier to be held at Damang Golf Club whilst the Greater Accra edition will take place at the Tema Golf Club.

According to the organisers, the first three winners will be awarded gold, silver and bronze trophies with the first two winners to be sponsored to represent the nation at the Peugeot International Pro-Am Golf courses to be held in France.

The courses to be run from August 23 to 28, will include Golf de Saint Germain, Golf National and Paris International Golf Club in France.

Ghana has for the past years displayed an excellent performance at the course.

In 2001, the winner of the Men's finals, Kweku Okyere placed ninth in the Internationals in France, with Mr Kamel Noshie picking the 19th position in 2002 in the Men's International finals in France. Last year, Elizabeth Essel Koomson and Seung- Jae Son placed seventh and 12th in the female and male competitions respectively in France.
