Former Black Stars goalkeeper Fatau Dauda has advised footballers to start planning for their retirement while they are still active in the game.

Speaking to Joy Sports, Dauda highlighted the importance of financial foresight and long-term planning.

"Sometimes when you have the money, a lot of things come to mind," Dauda said. "Our football is about decision-making. I'm not saying I am perfect, but I started planning when I was playing for AshGold. You need to focus on your job and think about the future. Imagine you retire at 35, and then God gives you another 40 years. What will you do with no salary or bonuses coming in?"

Dauda emphasized the need to save money while actively playing. "You have to start saving your money while you're still playing football. When you finish, that's when life truly starts," he explained.

Dauda's career includes stints with South African sides Chippa United and Orlando Pirates, as well as Ghanaian clubs Okwawu United, AshGold, and Legon Cities. He also made 26 appearances for the Ghana national team.
