Players begin to arrive for Zambia clash

Footy-ghana.com understands that some members of the senior national team, the Black Stars, have arrived in the country ahead of Friday’s 2014 World Cup qualifier against Zambia.

Footy-ghana.com can confirm that team captain Asamoah Gyan, Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien, Juventus wing back Kwadwo Asamoah and new Vitesse Arnhem loan signing Christian Atsu have arrived, so have new Rubin Kazan signing Mubarak Wakaso, Mahatma Otoo, Albert Adomah as well as goalkeepers Fatau Dauda and Razak Braimah.

Footy-ghana.com can also confirm that Awal Mohammed and Rashid Sumaila arrived on Sunday night.

Footy-ghana.com understands that Black Stars head coach Kwasi Appiah is expecting a full house before the team holds its first training session at the Accra Sports Stadium at 4pm on Monday afternoon.

The team would hold two more sessions at the same venue on Tuesday before flying to Kumasi on Wednesday morning via Starbow Airlines.

In Kumasi, they would have two training sessions at the Baba Yara prior to Friday's match. the first on Wednesday afternoon at match kick-off time - 4pm and the final brush-up on Thursday around 6pm.

Per competition rules, the away team must be allowed to train at the match venue 24 hours to the match kick-off time, so the Zambians have been scheduled to use the Baba Yara Stadium for training on Thursday at 4pm, after which the Black Stars would hold theirs.

Footy-ghana.com has learnt that the Zambians have communicated they will arrive on Tuesday and have already chosen their own hotel to lodge in.

The match officials from Algeria are expected in Ghana on Wednesday.

In a related development, footy-ghana.com understands that the team is scheduled to leave Kumasi immediately after the Zambia game on Friday evening via a chartered flight to Accra and the squad for the Japan friendly would fly out that very night via KLM at 9.30pm.
