Chairman of the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA), Kudjoe Fianoo is of the view that playing the national team for free will not win the hearts of Ghanaians.

This statement comes in after former Hearts of Oak skipper, Yaw Amankwah Mireku disclosed that for the Black Stars players to win the hearts of Ghanaians again, they must be ready to freeze their winning their winning bonuses and their appearance fees.

The players for time now have been pleading to the country to support them after the 2014 Brazil fiasco. Fandom supporters of the team have lost their interest for the national team due to the high demand of the players.

Some have urged the players to show their sense of patriotism and cut down their demands but the highly respected football administrator believes playing the national team for free will not win the hearts of Ghanaians.

“The players had the supports of the country when they were still taken their appearance fees but I believe the lost of supports for the team started after the Brazil world cup but we should not forget that these players are professional players.” Mr. Fianoo told Asempa Sports when he was quizzed if he supports the idea of Amankwah Mireku.

“For me let try to solve this situation because playing the national team for free will not solve this problem because there is a reason behind why the country has lost supports for the players. It is not only money because this payment of appearance fee started in 2005 so we should find antidote to why the country has lost supports for the country.

With the fiction between the Ghana Football Association and the Ministry of Youth and Sports still hanging, Mr. Fianoo has urged both parties to solve their differences if they want to the country to qualify for the Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup.

“The fiction between the FA and the Ministry will not help the country to qualify for the world cup because playing in the world cup has now become part and puzzle of the country.

“If the country fails to qualify for the world cup, it will be a big blow us and we know that playing the world cup helps our players to gets proper contract out the country so I will urge them to bring the impasse to an end.”
