Black Stars' midfielder, Afriyie Acquah dreams of playing time as the team prepares for a second Group G match with Germany on Saturday.
Acquah, 22, told GNA Sports that "Right now I feel very happy to be here at the World Cup. I know that I can make it. I am only hoping that I can get some playing time here."
The midfielder, capped five times, was confined to a bench role when Ghana lost 1-2 to the USA in a Group G opener on Monday but insists "I still see myself playing despite the quality in midfield. We still have two games to play at the group stage.
“I am preoccupied with working hard, improve and prove to the coach that I can play. That is what I want to prove to everyone."
He said, "My personal ambition here at the World Cup is for us to go beyond the group stage so my chances of playing more can become bright and I can get to show my skills, then everybody can see what I have to give."
The Palermo midfielder said "It will be disappointing if I do not get an opportunity to play a part for the team, but I will not be worried because football is like that.
"We have more midfielders here so if I get the chance, I will die for it but if I do not get it, I think we still have more games ahead once there is life and some day in the future, I will get the chance."
Ghana play Germany in their second group match on Saturday and Acquah says "This team can still go far because even in our loss to the USA, we still managed to control the game, created chances but could not just take them. All we have got to do now is to improve and make sure we implement them starting with Germany."
Ghana were quarterfinalist at the last World Cup in South Africa.
