Playing with Eto’o is an achievement - Inkoom

Ghana defender Samuel Inkoom has expressed elation at the opportunity of playing alongside four-time African Footballer of the Year, Samuel Eto’o at Turkish club Antalyaspor.

Inkoom, 26, joined the Super Lig outfit from Portuguese club Boavista on January 6, seeing out just six months of his expected two-year deal with the latter which he joined from Major League Soccer side DC United.

A three-time Uefa Champions League winner as well as an Africa Cup of Nations and Olympic Games gold medalist with Cameroon, Eto’o has been with Antalyaspor since July 2015, having previously played for the likes of Everton, Chelsea, Inter Milan, Barcelona and Real Madrid.

“I am very happy to play with Samuel Eto’o,” Inkoom told Joy Sports. “Everybody loves him.

“And [looking at] how he has been incredible for the past few years, playing with him is a big achievement for me. I am here to help the team as well.

“I think the most important thing for me is to be focused, train hard and be mentally strong [in order] to give my best in every game that I will play. I believe in God that everything will go on well for me this season.”

Inkoom has also previously represented Ukrainian side Dnipro, from where he was shipped on double loans to French club Bastia in 2013 as well as Platanias of Greece in 2014.

After impressing for Asante Kotoko in the local topflight as well as the Caf Champions League, he made his European breakthrough with Swiss side Basel, joining the Bebbi on a four year deal in 2009.
