Assistant coach of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Isaac ‘Opeele’ Boateng, has named King Faisal’s expatriate trainer, Steven Polack as the best coach in the maiden edition GLO Premier League which ends next Sunday July 19th 2009.

In a telephone interview with OMAN F.M, an Accra based radio station on Tuesday morning; the former head coach of Tema Youth, claimed Polack should be given the credit for transforming the then not so fancied side and catapulting into an enviable side which has culminated current fourth position on the league table. “To whom credit is due, it must be given and I feel Steve Polack has really transformed King Faisal since joining them, and deserves to be the season’s best” he said.

“He has guided the team to achieve some enviable success in this season’s competition judging from where he picked the club. Beating league leaders, Accra Hearts of Oak with nine men at a time Papic was in control was not easy” he added.

Polack, who rejoined the ‘Insha Allah” lads for this season after he left the club unceremoniously last season second has succeeded in transforming struggling King Faisal side from an abysmal position of the last four clubs on the log to a top four team in this competitive maiden edition of the Ghana’s elite GLO Premier League.

Opeele, who was commenting on the release of his annual Best Players list which is published at the end of every season, also showered praise on Heart of Lions impressive goalkeeper, Stephen Ahorlu, claiming he has been fantastic this season and has, on most occasions acted as pillar for the Kpando lads. The Goalkeeper has played a pivotal role in the gallant performance of the Kpando lads they have put up a stiffer challenge this season to the two most glamorous teams in the elite GLO Premier League; Accra Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko. Also making it to Opeele’s Best Eleven list is departed hardworking Eleven Wise midfielder Rahim Ayew as well as Obed Owusu of relegation threatened Gamba All Blacks.

Unlike his release last season that stirred so much controversy after leaving out the then top scorer in Premiership, Eric Bekoe in his list to pick Dominic Adiyiah of Lions, the current top scorer of the GLO Premier League Alex Asamoah, makes the list, which sees Asamoah become the second Asante Kotoko player to make the list after Jordan Opoku.
