..NDC, NPP, two others in Top Four Competition
...Dan Lartey’s GCPP ruled out

In their quest to foster peace and harmony among supporters of all politician parties ahead of this year’s general elections to elect a new President as well as parliamentary members, Bentrust Services Limited, an event organization firm, have put up a football gala competition that is set to bring on board all the key figures in the Top Four political parties who will be contesting in the December polls.

Though the actual date for the competition is yet to be fixed, CEO of Bentrust Services Limited, Rev. Owusu Benson, has revealed that his outfit has planed hosting the event at the new Ohene Djan Sports Stadium in Accra possibly in the third week of October as they expect their message to go down well with both the political parties, aspiring candidates as well as the electorate couple of weeks before the December elections.

He mentioned the four parties that will be competing in the Gala competition as, the National Democratic Congress, the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), the Convention Peoples Party (CPP) and the People’s National Convention (PNC). He said the competition will carry the form of a normal gala competition as it will be an all-play-all affair with the winner carry away a magnificent trophy. However, missing among the list is the Great Consolidated People’s Party (GCPP) which has Hon. ‘Domestication Man’ Dan Lartey as its Flagbearer.

But according to the organizers the competition is meant for the Top Four Political Parties, which the GCPP appears to fall below.

According to Rev. Owusu Benson, talks with the hierarchy and officials of all four selected political parties are far advanced to see all four Presidential Candidates, Professor Evans Fiifi Atta Mills (NDC), Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo-Addo (NPP), Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom (CPP) and Dr. Edward Mahama (PNC) as well as their running mates and aspiring parliamentary candidates compete in the one-day event as it will also be an appropriate platform for them to preach the message to their supporters and the electorate.

Therefore should everything go well as planned, then for the first time in the history of Ghana politics, supporters of various political parties will see their aspiring candidates competing against their political opponents in the number one sporting event and the passion of the nation, football, as they line-up at the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium in October in what is expected to be a memorable event ahead of the elections this December.

Perhaps what will also make the event a great one is the decision by the organizers to make it gate-free to afford every political party supporter the opportunity to meet their candidates and also spread the massage of peace and harmony among them (electorate) ahead of the general elections.
