Polo To Coach Olympics

Former Ghanaian great Mohammed Polo will coach his former club Accra Great Olympics for the next two seasons after he was named as the head of a five-member technical team by the club's board of directors.

Other members of Polo's technical team are Sabaa Hammond as an Assistant Coach, Emmanuel Sackey, Team Manager, Sam Addo, Goalkeeper's Trainer and Omaboe Okwei as Masseur.

Polo, considered by many as one of Ghana's finest players of all-time rounded up on his playing career with Olympics after enjoying a glorious career with Hearts of Oak, the national team and in the Arab world.

But his coaching career has not been so successful. He was sacked from his last job in Mali after replacing another Ghanaian great Abdul Razak at Stade Malien and has had several applications to coach the senior national team turned down by the Ghana Football Association.

Polo has always insisted he has what it takes to coach at the highest level. The Olympics job provides would be tough testing grounds for him.

They didn't fare particularly well in the last season and have been a terribly difficult grounds for many coaches.

David Duncan quit after complaining management were not doing enough to make the club competitive. Former national coach E. K Afranie was fired after a run of poor results.

Polo is confident he won't suffer the same fate.
